What's the UK Radio Player? And why should Media UK care?
The UK Radio Player launches on 31 March (from what we read).
It's a new era for radio online: one, simple, searchable player that "just works". We've seen various demonstrations of it, and it looks brilliant - and more importantly, sounds brilliant too.
So brilliant that you'll notice we'll link directly to it for every radio station that supports it, as soon as the Radio Player goes live (and we fiddle around finding the URLs to link to, since the Radio Player team aren't actually supplying a master list).
We understand that some stations will retain their own player, but also make their station available on the Radio Player. We'll offer both links in this circumstance, and monitor where the audience goes.
For noting - over the last thirty days, the "Listen now" button in radio stations has been pressed over 25,000 times on Media UK.
