The role

Horse Magazine is the UK’s fastest growing Equestrian magazine, and is now looking for a talented and motivated Acting Editor to cover the Editor’s maternity leave.

Successfully relaunched in June 2009, Horse Magazine has brought a much needed breath of fresh air to the equestrian magazine market, reflected in both copy sales growth and unprecedented reader feedback. Now we are looking for an Acting Editor who can lead our highly dedicated team to even greater success.

Person specification

  • The ideal candidate will be passionate about horses and riding, and be a talented and experienced all-round Journalist or Editor from a specialist consumer or consumer magazine background.
  • You will have a thorough understanding of the equestrian market and the ability to translate the needs of the reader into compelling content. Coupled with your excellent editing skills you will also be a great team leader and motivator who thrives on getting the best out of your team.
  • You will need bags of enthusiasm and the commitment to deliver the Horse Magazine editorial proposition and grow circulation, by generating innovative, must-have editorial.
  • You will also have the commercial understanding to help drive advertising and sponsorship revenues, and be comfortable managing editorial budgets.
  • An ability to build and maintain strong relationships with the magazine’s commercial teams as well as the equestrian trade will also be required.
