Virgin's Classic Rock revamp

Virgin is putting up a fight against Planet Rock and GMG's new Rock Radio network by giving Virgin Radio Classic Rock a major overhaul, which will see the station offer live news and travel updates, along with new programmes, jingles and strapline.Broadcasting on Sky, Virgin, online and on DAB in London, the station will now enjoy cross-promotion from Virgin Radio, and position itself as the UK's Rock Authority. Broadcasting Commission of Ireland invites applications for Dublin classic rock service

New classic rock radio station to launch in Dublin

A new radio station will commence broadcasting to the Dublin area this weekend under a temporary licence from the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland, and will operate every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 2 December. The Rock, based in Dun Laoghaire, will broadcast classic rock music aimed at the over-30s on 94.9 MHz FM and 1278 kHz AM. (Source: Radiowaves.fm) (more)

Arrow Classic Rock and Radio 10 Gold both remain on AM for the time being

Dutch commercial broadcasters Arrow Classic Rock and Radio 10 Gold continue to broadcast on mediumwave for the time being. Arrow is using 675 kHz to broadcast a “second channel” which is a modified version of its main service on FM. The mediumwave transmitter is operating at reduced power to reduce running costs. Arrow Classic Rock has commenced broadcasting across the Netherlands on the FM frequencies previously used by Caz! which Arrow recently acquired from SBS Broadcasting. Arrow Classic Rock to take over FM frequencies of Caz!

Dutch commercial broadcaster Arrow has just announced that it is buying the loss-making radio station Caz! from SBS Broadcasting. Arrow’s owner Ad Ossendrijver says that the plan is to start broadcasting the programmes of Arrow Classic Rock on the FM frequencies currently used by Caz! Dutch commercial broadcaster Arrow Classic Rock (675 kHz mediumwave) advises that the technical problems with its automated playout system have been fixed. Dutch commercial radio station Arrow Classic Rock, which can be heard outside the Netherlands on mediumwave 675 kHz, is experiencing problems with its automation system.
