The BBC has won four Prix Italia awards at Italy's prestigious broadcasting honours ceremony.

Three of the awards were for radio programmes, with Radio 4 scooping two for Don't Hang Up, in which Alan Dein called payphones to gather life stories (best radio documentary), and futuristic drama Metropolis (best adapted radio drama). Radio 3 won a further award, with The Incomplete Recorded Works of a Dead Body picking up the best radio drama plaudit.

BBC Two's Shoot The Messenger picked up the prize for best single play. It starred David Oyelowo as a teacher falsely accused of assaulting a young black pupil.
