Fox launches US business channel
Fox Business presenters prepare to go on air
The launch is New Corp's latest move into US business media
Rupert Murdoch's News Corp has launched a US business television network to challenge CNBC in the market for mainstream business coverage.

Fox Business Network appeared on US screens for the first time on Monday, with guests including Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Fox News has already replaced CNN as the US's biggest news channel.

Analysts are now watching to see whether the new station will overtake NBC Universal's CNBC.

Fox says the new station aims to "demystify" business news. One plan is for a show called Happy Hour, to be broadcast live from a bar.

Fox Business will reach about 30 million homes - less than a third of the reach of CNBC.

A Fortune magazine report on Monday said Mr Murdoch planned to invest $300m in his new channel over the next three years and aimed to have beaten CNBC in the ratings by then.

The launch comes after New Corp's $5bn deal to buy Dow Jones, publisher of the Wall Street Journal, leading to accusations that Mr Murdoch will have too much influence in US business coverage.
