Food and drink/FMCG editor, The Grocer - All
This job is located in Food and drink/FMCG editor, All (map)
The Grocer is a fun, fascinating and fast-moving title, and we are looking for an experienced business or consumer affairs journalist to deliver a cracking news section on the vibrant food, drink and wider FMCG arena, covering new product launches, advertising and marketing campaigns, pricing and promotion strategies, as well as key people moves and financial results.
You'll get to sample plenty of tasty (and not so tasty) food and drink. But the emphasis really is on breaking hard news, and understanding how the market operates, to give our influential audience the information it needs.
As such, you'll be tackling subjects as diverse as Hollywood blockbusters and Russian grain harvests, the latest consumer trends regarding innovation, hot topics such as packaging /sustainability, provenance, health and obesity, branding and copyright infringement, and your section will also need to reflect the current price wars, and, of course, the economy.
As well as breaking news, you will also be expected to write blogs, and file analysis, features and profiles of important industry figures.
The role requires a strong nose for a story and a strong work ethic; and you'll need to be calm but quick, organised, highly intelligent and a strong writer. The preferred candidate should also have experience of editing copy, and be able to mentor and nurture talent, as you will manage a small team of reporters and assorted freelancers.
You'll also ideally have knowledge of retail, food and drink and/or marketing (though this is not essential).
The Grocer is the award-winning flagship of the highly successful William Reed group, a family-owned magazine, new media and events business, whose interests include operations in the UK and France.
We're based just 30 minutes from the lively seaside town of Brighton, and 10 minutes from Gatwick, with its fast connections to London and the world (recent press trips have included the Caribbean, India, the Seychelles, Italy, Spain, France, Germany and New York).
We can offer a competitive salary and a great benefits package including a contributory pension, life assurance, 25 days' holiday and subsidised gym membership.
Please send a CV, relevant clips and a covering letter explaining why you're right for the job to recruitment@wrbm.com
