Group Editor online automotive design portfolio
West London
Do you have rock-solid journalistic skills? Do you understand how to engage readers on the web? Do you relish the idea of managing a portfolio of online, event and print activities with a small but passionate team? If so, then we’d like to hear from you.
Ultima Media www.ultimamedia.com is a 30-person private company which specialises in global B2B information for the automotive industry. We are looking for a Group Editor to head our portfolio of content which serves the design community - one of the sectors in which we are strong.
The role is a part of the management team which initiates, then manages and delivers, a range of activities which currently consist of:
Car Design News www.cardesignnews.com, the rich online resource for professional designers whose coverage includes live reports from the world’s leading motor shows.
Competitions for student designers, which are run online and culminate in live Awards events, and which attract the best of new talent. They include a contest specifically for China. You can see the range at: www.cardesignnews.com/site/contests/overview
Conferences, which currently means an annual event in China www.interiormotivesconferences.com
Interior Motives magazine www.interiormotivesmagazine.com - which covers automotive interior design - is a beautifully produced print complement to our web information
Bespoke activities including print supplements, sponsor-specific projects, webinars, and a series of designer nights - see www.cardesignnight.com
ABOUT YOU
You’ll be a good manager of projects and people, and be able to ‘do’ as well as manage via your journalistic skills and web experience. You’ll have the insights to engage with a readership which ranges from senior (and mature) designers to web-savvy students across the globe. You’ll also have ideas about how to use social media and other web opportunities as business initiatives.
You’ll enjoy the breadth and travel of a global role and be able to rise to peaks of intense activity (especially around motor shows). You could be reasonably early in your career. And while you’re as likely to have a background in consumer media as in B2B, you’ll certainly be attracted by the world of automotive design.
Above all you’ll relish the core of the job, which is managing and delivering.
Experience in the automotive design sector would, of course, be ideal, but critiquing the design of the latest concept car or writing about a specific brand’s design DNA is not key to this job.
ACTION
Please send your CV and a covering email about your background and experience, together with your salary expectations, to Simon Timm, Chairman of Ultima Media, at: jobapplications@ultimamedia.com
