Freelance Editor : Performance motoring titles, Total Car Magazines

Total Car Magazines is a small publishing company who produce three bi-monthly titles : Total Impreza, Total Nissan and Total Honda magazines, a range of magazines for the serious performance motoring enthusiast.

We require an editor to work closely with the publishers to help further grow the titles, including a launch into online media.

This role will require approx 26 weeks per year.

The role will suit someone with a proven track record in working on performance motoring titles, and experience either as a deputy editor or editor of another print magazine. You will have a solid understanding of print and online media, and a strong interest in building our digital activity. Knowledge of Japanese performance motoring is essential as well as a commercial awareness.

Responsibilities – Working closely with the publishers to agree a fresh and strategic editorial direction of the titles – Writing & photography, as well as commissioning of magazine features and news – Managing content relevant to our readers – Create a unique voice for each of the titles – Edit and sub-edit content as required – Updating and promoting of online social media as well as our own CMS website – Promote titles through online communities – Consistently deliver quality work, on time – Raise the profile of the brand and promote at every opportunity – Manage a pool of freelance writers and photographers – Work to a clearly defined budget and often tight deadlines

Profile – Experienced, creative, talented writer with some management experience – Experience within the Japanese motoring publishing sector – Strong interest in online media (to complement print media) – Ability to prioritise and juggle competing tasks whilst meeting deadlines – Worldwide awareness – Ability to work remotely
