Web content editor, Media Analytics Ltd - England
This job is located in Oxford, England (map)
Global Water Intelligence, the leading magazine for the international water business, is looking for a writer to produce and edit copy for its desalination related websites, www.desalination.com, and www.desaldata.com. The two sites provide news, company and country profiles, job advertising and analysis for the desalination industry.
It is an opportunity to join a fast growing business with a ring-side seat reporting on one of the greatest environmental challenges facing the world today.
You would also be expected to generate ideas for developing our online desalination content in new ways, with the objective of making desalination.com the number one online resource for the industry.
As well as writing desalination-related content for the web, you would be expected to help with the production of GWI during busy periods, and work regularly on gathering news for our project tracker, which provides bite-size updates of upcoming water-related infrastructure projects around the world.
The post would suit a graduate looking for their second job or someone looking for a route into publishing/journalism. The salary range is £22,000-£25,000.
Requirements:
- The ability to gain a rapid understanding of a technical subject
- Writing ability, including experience or knowledge of writing for websites
- The ability to précis complex stories concisely without losing their sense
- An eye for detail
- Ideas for how to develop content for a specialist site
- The flexibility to thrive in a busy, rapidly-growing international business with minimal supervision
How to apply:
Please do not sign up for a free trial for any of our publications. Instead go to www.globalwaterintel.com/webcontenteditor and download the PDF of the December 2011 issue of GWI. Pick five full-length stories to summarise – the body text must be 150 words and the headline must be 53 characters long.
Send your summarised stories and CV to Rhys Owen: ro@globalwaterintel.com by 20th February, mentioning that you found this job on Journalism.co.uk
About Global Water Intelligence
Global Water Intelligence is a monthly magazine focused on the international water industry. With its emphasis on high value-added news reporting it has grown from two employees to nearly 50 spread across three international offices over the past decade. The outlook for continued growth of the magazine, its related websites and research reports remains strong. Our head office is in central Oxford, but fewer than 5% of revenues are generated in the UK, ensuring that there is plenty of scope for international travel. If you are cosmopolitan, highly motivated, and creative we would love you to join us. See www.globalwaterintel.com/about/
