Communications Executive / Editor, International Hydropower Association - England

A position has arisen for an excellent communicator with astute mind and journalistic aptitude to support the Association’s external and internal communications function. The successful candidate will support our appeal to members as well as individuals and organisations active in the energy, water and climate arenas.

The role will primarily require the candidate to deliver the right content in the right way, in printed and digital form, and support the Association’s communications strategy.

We are looking for an experienced writer and editor with international awareness, who will take on the task of creating original content for the hydropower community and refining the messages of the Association. The role is a new position within the Association and will require the candidate to stay aware of developments in both policy and practice.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to spot a story and adapt it to specific audiences. Experience in online publishing. Dynamism, curiosity and outstanding writing skills are essential. It is also important to have a an efficient and organised approach. Be a self-starter able to meet deadlines.

Candidate Profile:

  • Excellent research and writing skills, with a good range of writing styles
  • Keen eye for detail and a talent for proof-reading and editing
  • Degree in journalism, communications or equivalent
  • Good knowledge and experience in online and printed publishing
  • Outstanding command of English. Foreign language is an advantage
  • Experience or degree in energy-related topic is an advantage
  • Strong interest in sustainability and a commitment to IHA’s mission
  • Ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced work environment.
