Leading new homes portal www.WhatHouse.co.uk is looking for an assistant editor for its online and digital products. Enthusiasm, conscientiousness, a high standard of English, an eye for detail and a willingness to learn are the main personal qualities we are looking for.
It would be an ideal role for someone with some property journalism experience, particularly in producing compelling, consumer-facing content. An ability to work to deadlines is essential, as is hands-on knowledge of social media as well as a range of traditional journalistic skills.
Working with a small, friendly team, it’s a busy but informal workplace. The What House? brand has been established for well over 30 years and we strive to remain the leading new homes title for the UK.
The role will involve mainly, but not exclusively:
- Providing content for and editing our monthly digital magazine – this includes interviews, site visits, videos and a variety of feature topics
- Day-to-day interaction on social media, with a view to engaging and expanding our audience there
- Identifying and providing content for quality 3rd-party blogs and websites to promote our brand
- Uploading news and features online
- Co-ordinating freelance contributors and subbing their work
- Covering for the editor in his absence
There is a high degree of autonomy with the role and the opportunity to be involved in some of the other products and events in our portfolio.
