Editorial Assistant, Square Meal Venues & Events

Square Meal Venues & Events is looking to recruit an editorial assistant to work across its high-traffic website, quarterly magazines and annual guide. This challenging, fast-paced role offers plenty of writing opportunities but there is also an admin element to the job and we’re looking for a candidate who is highly organised and not afraid to pick up the phone to get things done.

In any one day, you could be researching party trends, writing news stories, setting up interviews or booking photographers, while also finding time to build your contacts book and keep the website and image library up-to-date as new information and pictures come in.

As a team, we obviously attend a great number of events, both during and outside normal office hours, and we’re looking for someone who would be genuinely excited about going out, seeing things and meeting people, be it at a new venue launch, press trip, networking event or to cover hospitality in association with high-profile sport or cultural events.

The ability to write sharp, clean copy to tight deadlines is essential and previous experience in either journalism and/or venues and events would obviously be a bonus but, more importantly, we’re looking for an intelligent, sociable and fun-loving team player with a genuine interest in our thrilling industry.

The starting salary for this job would be 18K (negotiable depending on experience) and there are excellent in-house career prospects
