The purpose
Creates, manages and fosters a truly compelling online community that engages end-users specifically in commercial aviation and the related niche area of maintenance, repair and overhaul. Responsible for growing WEB traffic and increasing user length of stay on AW public and subscriber-only websites. This market accounts for 40% of AW's annual revenue and is a key driver in near-and medium-term strategic growth plans.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing existing online editorial elements and identifying and developing new ones such as, but not limited to, blogs, forums, audio and video content and graphics as they relate to the targeted community.
- Identify trends, emerging topics and key contributors in the target community as it takes shape, taking special care to link internal AW participants to external community members and contributors as those trends and topics arise.
- Write and edit original content, including blogs, short news items and featured items.
- Attract new audience through outreach to other groups/websites and through innovation in features, discussion topics and other content.
- Advise editorial colleagues on how to leverage online capabilities to serve AW readers, and collaborate with and coach editorial colleagues to become more effective in digital arenas.
- Create and periodically update a community-development plan detailing the manager's approach and ideas for growth and expansion of the targeted community.
Requirements
- Writing and editing skills, and strong reputation for journalistic ethics, honesty and integrity.
- Familiarity with, and evidence of regular participation in, contemporary online experiences such as blogs, podcasts, online discussions, etc.
- Demonstrated flexibility working with a variety of staff at all levels, and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Demonstrated domain knowledge, with at least 10 years' editorial experience in commercial and/or MRO aerospace markets, sufficient to justify being a major bylined contributor to AW media outlets from the outset.
- Broad experience in the non-U.S. aerospace marketplace, with particular emphasis on Asia and the Middle East.
