Telegraph: Man sues friend over fake Facebook profile

A businessman is suing an old schoolfriend allegeding the friend created a fake profile of him on the social networking site Facebook. Mathew Firsht, 38, is seeking damages from Grant Raphael at the High Court, claiming that the profile contained personal details and false information about his sexual orientation and political views. Richard Bambrook, the British National Party's London Assembly member, has used the paper's MyTelegraph platform to publish an anti-immigrant blog post. A spokeswoman for the Telegraph said the presence of the post on the site did not mean the paper endorsed Bambrook's arguments and that readers are relied upon to report offensive material. "Our readers are entitled to their opinions and, within the law, they're entitled to publish them on the My Telegraph blogging platform," she said. (more)

NMA: Telegraph looks to ecommerce as web revenue stream

It is 5 o'clock at the offices of the Telegraph. With Thursday evening deadlines approaching and journalists firing off copy to the subs, assistant editor Andrew Pierce strolls coolly across the newsroom into a glass booth to face a wall of cameras. On cue, he delivers a 30-second commentary on the significance of Peter Hain's resignation from the Cabinet over undeclared donations, to the backdrop of the Telegraph's new hi-tech offices in Victoria. Minutes later it's all done. Pierce returns to his desk and his piece is wrapped up in a neighbouring VT suite and sent over to Telegraph TV's content partner, ITN, to be incorporated into a short clip.
