Discussing the Leveson Inquiry in a letter to The Times, Professor Brian Cathcart of the Hacked Off campaign writes: "No one is suggesting that the press should be regulated in the same way that broadcasters are, but it is surely impossible to argue that regulation protected Jimmy Savile from exposure... Even when his death removed any danger of a libel action, no national newspaper reported what he had done.
