The U.S. Appeals Court has ruled that a ban on newspaper racks in Raleigh Durham International Airport, North Carolina violates the first amendment, following a challenge from a group of US newspapers including the Raleigh News & Observer, Durham Herald-Sun, New York Times, and USA today. (more)

Civil rights photographer Charles Moore dies

US photojournalist Charles Moore, whose work chronicled the civil rights era of the 1960s, has died aged 79.Born in Hackleburg, Alabama in the heart of the segregated South, Moore served three years in the marines and then attended the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California.
