Callers to Magic 1548
Follow @mediaukdiscussI listen to the JLC programme on a Saturday and Sunday, and most of the callers do not seem to be from the Merseyside area – they seem to be from the Lancashire area by the sound of their acccents. Is Magic broadcast from outside the Liverpool area?
Liverpool is historically a part of Lancashire and the station does cover parts of Lancashire in addition to Liverpool!
Weirdly Magic 999 (going back to the days of Red Rose Gold) always seamed to have a fair few scousers calling in.
Southport – half way between Preston and Liverpool and within the overlap – has an accent which sounds scouse to my ears and Lancastrian to someone from Liverpool!
I would like to thank James Cridland and Kev Swindells on there comments Re:Majic 1548.As Mr Swindells states that the Accent of Southport People are a mixture of Lancashire and Liverpool People My two Grandaughters and there Parents moved to Southprt 10 years ago and are now speaking with the southport accent.
Yes, Magic 1548 is part of a set of radio stations called Magic; Magic 999 is broadcast out of Preston, for example. While Magic 1548 has studios in Liverpool, some programming does come from other stations in the group; much from Newcastle, I understand.
http://www.mediauk.com/radio/starting-with/magic has a list of all of them.
