Smooth 70s is on DAB – it’s not on FM or AM.

I believe that Smooth Radio 70s is a DAB only station so you will need a DAB radio to listen. So you don’t need to ‘know a frequency’ – it will just show up on your list of stations assuming you are in an area that can pick up the station.

try the postcode checker here:
http://www.ukdigitalradio.com/coverage/postcodesearch/
to find out.

You can also listen on-line – this page has a link:
http://www.smoothradio.co.uk/listen-live-online
which has a link to listen on line to the 70’s service.

I notice that the MediaUK directory quotes:
www.smoothradio70s.com as the website – which comes up with some cryptic code, rather than the page – looks like something has gone wrong with the site. Hopefully this will only be a minor blip and it will be fixed soon.

Continuing items for those radio industry people – a quick search shows up this page:
http://www.smoothradioplus.com/
has a link to a Smooth 60s service as well – that I hadn’t heard of (or at least hadn’t stuck in my mind)- but this seems to be on-line only. Of interest this 60s service doesn’t seem to show up in ‘UK Radio Player’ which I would have thought puts Smooth at a disadvantage, compared to the Absolute family of “decade services”.

Did he mean the DAB frequency of the station? If you cycle through your information (INFO button, or similar) then the frequency should come up.

222.064MHz is about as much use when you’ve got a DAB radio as a chocolate fireguard.

OOh I love chocolate fireguards, but they make a mess of the rug.
Seriously, @Alan, smooth 70s is one of the MONO stations on the Digital1 national multiplex.

Brian: since most radio stations are listened-to in mono on mono receivers, would you mind explaining the concern? Should Smooth be spending another 50% bitrate costs to cater for the minority of people who listen in stereo?

James, it’s odd that you think that a strange concern I have seeing as, even though a large number of people might only have a radio with one speaker, most of the DAB receivers I have seen can go stereo with headphones or being connected via a lin-out socket to other audio. But also, them that want us to have DAB and switch from FM to DAB excel its virtues as a superior listening experience, which would not be the case if it were mon. Furthermore, when Baur tried to put Magic down to 96 Kbs mono, there was a public outcry and they reversed the decision so, no I do not necessarily expect Smooth to cough up the extra cash to go from 112 Kbs Mono to 128 Kbs stereo, but, in an ideal world, it would be rather nice.

Oh and before I forget, why is my picture not showing? I have not changed my Farcebook profile picture for ages.
