Vinny Brown posted on Saturday 25th August 2012 at 18:30Hi, I am looking to promote some new music that has been recorded professionally. I would like to get it out to Radio Show Presenters/Producers. I there anywhere that one can get a directory of email addresses or a list of email addresses for all the radio stations in the UK? I would be obliged if anybody can help.
The music can be heard here

As Glyn mentions, we don’t make a downloadable list available in this way, but if you want to find, for example, every Head of Music you’ll find them here on Media UK.

Hi Lads,
Many thanks for your quick responses. Very helpful indeed. Also can I ask is there a similar website like Media UK for the US Radio Stations? Cheers

We get a lot of music demos to our info@ address, which I’m sure is the general one listed on Media UK.
If you’re going to mass email, try to personalise it by at least using mail merge or, even better, try to find out why the radio station would be interested and send them a personal email.
If you can’t think of the particular station would be interested based on your research, perhaps restrict it to the stations which do seem like the right ones for whatever reason.
Please – for the sake of me and everyone else on the recieving end – don’t just blindly mailshot everyone. We even get some that have all the stations addressed rather than BCC’d – that’s not a way to make a station feel valued!

...and that’s why we don’t make downloadable lists available in this way… ;)

Someone’s clearly managed to get a list from somewhere. Or we shouldn’t use info@ as our contact address. ;)

Hi Vinny
Radio Today offers a service of emailing their radio database with your own message.
See here for details – http://radiotoday.co.uk/mediapack/RadioTodayAds.pdf
Good luck,

Hi again Vinny,
Do not use the ‘scatter gun’ approach. You need to look at the stations that broadcast the style of music you wish to promote.
It takes time and effort, you must pick the stations that are right for you and, most importantly as James pointed out, personalise the email. When I was in management I would receive dozens of emails and letters that were copy and paste, couldn’t care less documents. That made me think they don’t know me. They don’t know the station. They don’t really care. Remember the delete button or the waste bin are never far away!
Hi all,
This is great info and thanks for passing it on. Just wondering if anyone knows of an equivalent site for Irish stations?
Regards,
Colm G

I’m forever getting demos sent to my ‘station’.. y’know.. the one called RadioFeeds?

Hi Vinny,
You’re almost there!
Media UK lists over 800 radio stations and each listing has contact details, including email.
Here’s the link to the directory: http://www.mediauk.com/radio
