The 60s are cool again
Follow @mediaukdiscussI’ve enjoyed listening to Absolute Radio 60s the past few weeks – the music has been great, and much of what I’ve heard hasn’t been the “obvious”, too.
There’s an obvious distinction between Absolute Radio 60s and Gold – Gold sounds as if it’s an entire radio station stuck, to a greater or lesser degree, in the 1960s. Absolute seems to have made a radio station for the 2010s that plays nothing but 60s music. It’s a clever trick if you can do it.
Do you think Absolute has pulled it off? Or is Gold, with its wider variety of music, a better listen?
Sounds of the sixties on radio 2 you hear a lot of non sixties chart stuff by the way absolute sixties plays some seventies as well because they don’t check before they play idiots.
Have to admit I got bored very quickly with 60s, 70s on the other hand is fantastic and a welcome addition where disco, the various forms of rock and pop are playlisted together. A broad spectrum of music can be done if playlisted properly!
A radio station , just playing 90’s .....now FOR ME that would be SO SO COOL !
Why not have a listen to the all 60s show that goes out every Saturday night on BBC Sheffield, Leeds, Humberside and York and of course online. All 60s, all music and a Facebook group of followers on “Diana Luke loves the 60s”.
