What have they done to Heart's Club Classics?

Anyone able to shed some light on the 180* turn on the music on Heart’s Club Classics since they introduced the Mark Wright voicetracking? In the past we used to get quality tunes from artists like Rhianna, LMFAO, Example, Calvin Harris, Pitbull, Usher etc. but now it’s gone back to loads of 70s disco with a bit of 90s Old Skool thrown on top.

Why I wonder? I always assumed it got round the “new music” quota for the legacy One Network stations, but still sounded good. Or does it class as a “specialist” programme and therefore Ofcom aren’t too fussed if it’s banging out a load of stuff that’s nearly 40 years old?

Just odd as it jars quite violently with the daytime music log – even on the legacy Chrysalis stations.

I think I’d much rather hear ‘loads of 70s disco’ than those ‘quality’ artists that you just listed. Given Heart’s fairly rounded output, I would also suspect that it’s not the worst commercial move.

Club Classics – great tunes, floorfillers and bringing with them an element of nostalgia. If I’d never heard the show before I’d assume it was always 70s and 80s disco/hiNRG stuff, and quite right too.

That may be – but you don’t hear any 70s on Heart now in daytime, and very little 80s. Aren’t Heart’s audience getting just a little bit too old for Chic and Sister Sledge, and are going to want to listen to more modern artists of a Friday/Saturday evening?

Not that I’ve anything wrong with disco, but I do miss the chance to hear artists like the ones I mentioned at the start of the thread.

Sorry, that should have read a bit too young!
