SNR via Sky Box

posted on Friday 17th May at 10:31

Is anyone else having problems receiving Sky News Radio via a Sky Digibox? It’s stopped working for us and all other channels are working and there’s no reply to my email from IRN/SNR technical department as of yet.

Sky News Radio (SNR) has moved onto the new the Astra 1N satellite at 28 East.
The parameters required to find SNRNEW are:
Transponder 26 = 12207MHz Verticle polarisation
Symbol Rate 27500 FEC 2/3

Ideally stations should use the IRN network at Astra4/Sirius satellite at 4.8 East.
You will find IRN mono 1, mono2 as well as the stereo IRN channel 3 there.

Further to my previous post, there is only one SRN service (the old “SNR” being ceased) 0n the Astra satellite at 28 degrees east. This is available on the parameters listed above (previously listen as SNRNEW, but now renamed as SNR).

Normally IRN don’t like the tuning details being published in the public domain – the want to control distribution of these details to subscribers only.

It’s freely available information online though. If they really wanted to control who accesses the services that tightly they could always encrypt the Astra 1N transmission.

I’ve always thought that Ash! Technically very easy to do.
