Research Assistant, BBC Marketing and Audiences

This job is located in London, Greater London, England. (map)

This is a 12 month contract

The Research Assistant role is an entry-level position, initially, in the Audio and Music Audiences team (working primarily on BBC Radio youth brands – BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra and Asian Network), part of the Marketing and Audiences (Operations) division of the BBC. The role offers an exciting opportunity to understand audience data and behaviours and impact on strategic and editorial decisions.

The post involves supporting the Audio and Music Audiences team in the day to day analysis and reporting of audience data, along with dealing with ad hoc requests and providing support on longer term projects. You’ll learn how to use industry datasets and other research sources in order to provide audience insight and analysis to support decision making within Audio and Music. It is anticipated that the role will also involve working within other areas of the wider Audiences department, as required.

You will have an interest in pursuing a career in market research or similar disciplines, a curiosity to understand people, trends and changes in media behaviour, and an appreciation of the broadcasting market and the role of the BBC within it. You will be numerate, with strong analytical and IT skills, and a proactive approach to work and learning. You will be able to demonstrate an interest in, or experience (professional or academic) of data analysis or market research.
