We’re looking for an Assistant Producer for one of our longest-running and best-loved programmes: BBC Radio 3’s Sony Award winning Jazz On 3.
Our mission is to present performances by the most innovative contemporary jazz musicians from all corners of the UK, uncover new talent and give listeners access to the biggest names in jazz from around the world. We report on trends and developments in jazz today and put all of the above in the context of the music’s rich history. This is a fantastic – and rare – opportunity to work on the programme. We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running and quickly become an essential member of the production team. You will support the producer and senior producer across all aspects of the production process – from research and ideas generation to producing interviews and features and organising outside broadcasts.
If this describes you and your experience, we’d love to hear from you:
You have a passion for radio and experience of working at Broadcast Assistant or Assistant Producer level, preferably for a BBC programme
You love music and have a good knowledge of jazz
You have an ability to work across several tasks at once, and meet regular deadlines
You can write quickly, accurately and creatively
You are creative and rise to the challenge of coming up with ideas
You have digital editing skills – preferably on SADIE
You’re comfortable using portable recording equipment
