Multi Media Journalist, Premier Media Group

OVERALL AIM OF PREMIER MEDIA GROUP

PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To ensure the delivery of news and current affairs across radio, web and magazines for the Premier Media Group. The post holder will be expected to reflect the news of the day from a Christian perspective and demonstrate an ability to extend stories into discussion and debate where required.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Attend and contribute story ideas and angles to `Daily Editorial Meetings’ and/or daily news meetings
•Deliver news copy, audio and or video to specific deadlines
•Conduct interviews and reporting duties
•Compile and voice on-air bulletins according to agreed shift patterns
•Write and edit long form copy for use online and/or magazine publications where required
•Contribute to the forward planning diary
•Assist in the planning and production of all news/current affairs strands across platforms including packages, special reports and on-air radio programmes
•Update contacts database including social media details of new contributors
•Adhere to all media law and OfCom guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
•At least 1 year as a journalist in radio
•A recognised journalism qualification
•Proven experience in either web/print or video journalism
•Sound news judgement
•A good broadcast voice
•Strong editorial skills in copy, headline writing and delivery

•Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
•Be self-motivated and flexible
•Able to work effectively under pressure, react quickly, and meet tight deadlines
•A good level of IT skills including audio, video or copy editing.
•A proven interest in matters of the Christian church and faith
•Meet the established production standards and contribute to the establishment of future internal guidelines

•Ability to work in a busy, high pressured environment
•The post-holder will work in a Christian environment and will deal with Christians, Christian organisations and ministries for most of the time, therefore it will be necessary for the job holder to be a Christian.

The innovative, expanding and forward-looking Premier Media Group has been broadcasting Christian radio on DAB nationally, and also on medium wave Christian radio to London and the Home Counties since June 1995. In addition we also broadcast on the Internet and Freeview. We provide an online Christian TV service, Premier.tv, and three monthly Christian magazines are published in-house: Christianity, Youthwork and Childrenswork. It is a very busy, fast-moving and demanding multi-media office environment, changing and reacting to news and technology by the day.
