Charity Co-ordinator, GCap Media Plc

To implement effective fundraising for the station charity brand through initiatives, events, sponsorship, CRM and collections.

To implement the annual programme of fundraising events and to lead, co-ordinate and motivate staff and volunteers on behalf of the local charity.

To work with the Marketing Manager to develop and manage the reputation of the charity by making sure its positive profile is continually developed and maintained throughout the broadcast area through its fundraising and grant giving.

Hours: Full Time with flexibility to cover evenings and weekends as required

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1) To Implement cost-effective fundraising for the charity by:

•Implementing the annual programme of fund-raising events and CRM and sponsorship opportunities to meet targets, working with the station.
•Implement the business plan for enhancing funding opportunities.
•Exploring potential new funding sources for the charity, including local, regional, national options.

2) To promote and develop the role and profile of the charity by:

•Project managing a programme of fundraising events each year
•Playing a key role in visiting local charities and non profit-making organisations in the area including representing the charity at events when required
•Working with the Marketing Manager to liaise with the local media to make sure the work and services are promoted
•Developing and maintaining a network of useful contacts in the charitable, non-profit-making, public and private sectors
•To work alongside colleagues in the GCap Charities network sharing best practice and fundraising ideas, and where appropriate, contacts.

3) To support The Charity Trustees and Grants Panel by:

•Being Secretary to the Grants Panel and attending its meetings including preparation and distribution of agendas, grant applications and taking minutes.
•Giving relevant and timely information to the Panel regarding applications for grants and awards to charitable and non-profit-making organisations.
•Providing GCap Charities Director, Trustees and the Panel with regular information, including budget profiles and forecasts, about the work and progress of the charity.
•Monitoring media and public relations activities and coverage and making sure updates are reported to Marketing Manager, GCap Charities Director and Trustees and The Panel

4) To manage information and publications by:
•Making sure all charity literature and promotional materials are kept up to date and that new literature and materials are designed, written, printed and distributed as necessary
•Making sure the charity’s webpage contain useful, clear, understandable and up to date information about grants and fundraising initiatives.
•If necessary, responsible for obtaining content (Audio/Online) from charities and community groups or companies to support the work on -air.

5) To project manage charitable activities by:

•Working under the direction of the Marketing Manager and Gcap Director of Charities to ensure charitable activities are financially managed in accordance with the Charities Act 1992 (or any statutory re-enactment or modification of it) and in compliance with the requirements of GCap Charities, and GCap Media Group plc.
•Making sure any necessary legal or administrative functions are carried out in accordance with GCap Charities and GCap Media Plc

6) Where appropriate to lead, co-ordinate and motivate the charity’s volunteers by:

•Making sure sufficient volunteers are on hand to help organise, implement and staff fund-raising and promotional events and initiatives
•Making sure all procedures, including induction, communication, health & safety policies, equal opportunities, diversity and personnel protocols, are adhered to.

Experience and Skills:

Relevant fundraising or marketing/sales experience
People skills, team building, performance management and maintaining relationships
Excellent communication skills, oral and in writing, including presentation skills in formal, informal and public settings
Ability to lead and inspire
Ability to work to conflicting deadlines and to work in a totally flexible way
Good copy writing skills, coupled with good levels of creativity
Good knowledge of using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Database

Forge links with grants panel and volunteers
