Fresh from winning the Best Use of Online for Marketing a Radio Station at the recent Promotions and Marketing Awards, Juice FM has signed a month long deal with drinks manufacturer WKD to broadcast online at the radio station's own YouTube style website. (more)
Juice accused of prize boob

Liverpool's Juice FM is being criticised - for offering a breast enlargement as the prize in an on-air competition. 27-year-old Nadine Pude has won the chance to increase her bra size from an A to a DD and will have the operation later this month. But there's criticism from doctors who say it's not a good advert for cosmetic surgery. (more)
WRN goes mobile in India

WRN signs deal to broadcast on India mobiles

WRN, the UK-based television and radio transmission company, has concluded a deal with AirChord, the New Delhi-headquartered, multi-media streaming media company that converges mobile and web.
The deal means WRN will be making its 24/7 international news and current affairs radio channel available to Indian mobile users via AirChord and its Juice Up mobile application. Mobile subscribers will be able to access world class content from WRN's international public broadcasting clients that include China Radio International, Korea's KBS World Radio, Radio Canada International, America's NPR, Ireland's RTE and Radio Romania International.
Gary Edgerton, WRN's Managing Director, says, "India is one of the fastest growing mobile markets globally and this partnership with AirChord gives WRN a significant mobile presence across the country and offers the growing numbers of Indian mobile subscribers access to unique global content from WRN.

Grainne sets up Instant Radio

Former Juice FM Programme Director Grainne Landowski has left the Liverpool station to launch a radio solutions business. Instant Radio is offering support to stations, including competitor analysis and presenter coaching. Grainne joined Juice in 2001 and helped win Juice Station of the Year at the NTL Awards in 2003. Local radio stations Dee 106.3 and 107.6 Juice FM have joined forces to bid for the new local digital radio multiplex serving North East Wales and West Cheshire.The owners of these stations, Dee 106.3 Ltd and UTV Radio (GB) Ltd have teamed up with Town & Country Broadcasting Ltd and MuxCo Ltd to create MuxCo North East Wales and West Cheshire Ltd. LBC's James O'Brien is to turn vegetarian for two weeks and will chronicle his attempts to stay away from meat on his show.The mid-morning presenter, who professes to be an avid meat fan and has been outspoken about vegetarianism, has challenged himself to be a healthy veggie for a fortnight.Marinated tofu and beetroot juice, and other vegetarian delights, will be delivered to O'Brien live on air.The presenter will also be keeping listeners updated on his attempts via his blog at lbc.co.uk. Following last week’s acquisition of Passion 107.9 in Oxfordshire, Absolute Radio has announced the appointment of Graham Lysaght from Juice FM in Liverpool as Sales Manager.
Graham obviously made a great impression on Absolute Radio when they owned Juice, so the team at Absolute wasted no time in hiring Graham to join them at Passion. For the past 3 years he oversaw a 60% growth in year on year sponsorship and promotions revenue as head of the team at Juice. (more)
