BizAsia.co.uk brings you the full Sky Digital channel listings as they will appear after the reshuffle. There are no changes planned for following EPG categories Documentaries, Sports, Adult and Radio. Sky plans to implement a marketing campaign through a number of different media prior to the changes taking place in order to inform viewers of the changes. The new channel line up is currently scheduled to be implemented on a genre by genre basis between 05:00 and 08:00 on the dates specified below. Sports commentator Barry Davies, 70, has been broadcasting for over 40 years. He has covered 10 World Cups, 10 Olympic Games, seven Winter Olympics, seven Commonwealth Games and many Wimbledons. On Saturday he reprises his role as "Voice of the Boat Race", commentating for LBC Radio. He lives in Datchet, Berkshire, with his wife Penny, whom he met on his first job for BBC Radio. Their daughter, Giselle, is director of communications for the International Olympic Committee, and their son, Barry, is managing director of the online betting shop Betfair. (more)

Global Radio and Sky have scrapped plans to turn LBC 1152 into a 24 hour Sky News branded station. The joint venture, agreed between Sky and Chrysalis before Global took over the company, will no longer work together on a national station, which was expected to launch on the 4Digital national multiplex. Sky are now looking for an alternative partner to launch a digital service next year. (more)

Global Radio has finalised its takeover of the Heart, Galaxy and LBC brands from previous owners Chrysalis. Shareholders have approve the deal to sell the radio stations to Global for £170m in total. LBC complaints received by Ofcom

In the latest issue of the Broadcast Bulletin from Ofcom, a report of complaints against Iain Lee's LBC programme was published. Two listeners complained that the word c*nt was used by a caller to the show during a late night phone-in on July 30. Prior to receiving any formal complaints from listeners, LBC had already alerted Ofcom to the incident. The broadcaster explained that the call had been dumped (the station operates a permanent 7 second delay which allows it to dump unsuitable material). Unfortunately, although the delay unit had previously been tested and found to be working correctly, as a result of a technical fault, the dump facility removed the offending word from the DAB transmission, but not the FM transmission. When the problem was identified, the presenter apologised for any offence and did not take any further calls to air while the matter was investigated. (more)

Femi Oke: My Life In Media

The international weather anchor for CNN, Femi Oke, 40, is also a regular host of the current-affairs programme Inside Africa. She began her broadcasting career at the age of 14 as a junior reporter for LBC Radio, joining the BBC after university. Memorable moments from her career include wrestling a crocodile in Jamaica and reporting from Antarctica at minus 37C. She was born and brought up in south-west London to Nigerian parents, and now lives in Atlanta, where CNN has its HQ, with her husband. Complaint for LBC blipverts

LBC 97.3, the Chrysalis-owned news station for London had a complaint made against them for the broadcasting of 'blipverts' (short advertisments rather than sponsor credits) for DHL which was transmitted during the news headlines and the full news stories. A listener complained that this arrangement suggested the news was sponsored. The Broadcasting Code prohibits the sponsorship of news. LBC pointed out that advertisements in news bulletins have been commonplace for some years across UK radio stations under the newslink scheme. In a statement in the latest Broadcast Bulletin released today, LBC said it considered its listeners were intelligent enough to distinguish editorial from advertising of this nature. (more)

If you're wondering whether podcasts can ever help the black hole in your station's monthly revenue targets, the answer to proving to be yes for 97.3 LBC. While traditional radio advertising continues to struggle, LBC have established podcasting as a viable source of income. This week's trading report from Chrysalis revealed that the LBC "premium podcast" service, is being received by over 3,500 paying subscribers. BBC reaches rebroadcasting agreement with SLBC

The BBC has announced a rebroadcasting deal with Sri Lanka's state-run SLBC radio. The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) says a special radio channel will be started early next month for the country's children. Addressing the media, the chairman said President Mahinda Rajapaksa had directed him to set up the new channel to facilitate more child-focused radio programmes. Nick Ferrari: My Life In Media

Nick Ferrari, who does not wish to state his age, is the breakfast presenter of LBC 97.3FM. In 2005 he broke the mould with a series of sell-out stage shows, re-enacting his LBC radio show for a live audience. The shows were so popular they will be restaged later this year to coincide with the April launch of his debut book, 'The World According to Nick Ferrari'. In addition to this, he has just been re-signed to LBC on a three-year contract. He lives in Blackheath with his wife and two children. (more)
