One Network break rules twice

GWR Bristol have fallen foul of Ofcom due of the antics of a potty mouthed rabbit. The regulators found the station in breach of broadcasting code over an Easter promotion in which the Easter Bunny uses the phrase "fat motherf**kers".Meanwhile Mercia FM has also been found in breach for undue promotion of a local car dealership during programming time. Latin Amercia on-air in London

A Latin American internet radio station has been granted permission by Ofcom to broadcast in London on a temporary basis. XPressit FM will operate with an RSL licence from August 13th to September 9th and programmes will include Breakfast with Mexican actor Ernesto Leszek. (more)

Clear Channel sold for $19b

The largest radio company in Amercia has been sold for nearly 19 billion dollers, according to a report just released by Reuters.The bid values Clear Channel, which has about 1,150 radio stations, at $37.60 a share, the source said. Clear Channel shares closed at $34 Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange. (more)

Wake up with Whoopi

Film star Whoopi Goldberg is joining the radio airwaves in Amercia as she has announced the launch of a syndicated breakfast show to be called Wake Up With Whoopi. The show will start on July 31st and broadcast on Clear Channel radio stations across the country. "It's something I always wanted to do. I just really didn't have the opportunity before this presented itself," she said. "It came along just at the right time, and I think it will be a great deal of fun." (more)
