kmfm raises £12k in 12 hours

The kmfm network recently hosted a 12 hour on-air fundraising auction, and raised more than £12,000 for charity.Money from the event on October 30th went to Kent Needs More Frankys appeal, to help employ more nurses in Kent. (more)

Presenter Tim Stewart dies at 52

Former Invicta FM, Capital Gold and KMFM presenter Tim Stewart has died at the age of 52, after a difficult battle with pancreatitis. (more)

Ofcom has re-awarded the local FM commercial radio licences for the Canterbury and Dover/Folkestone areas to the current licensees, KMFM Canterbury and KMFM Folkestone. (more)
Maidstone's kmfm leaves town

The KM Group has gained Ofcom approval to move kmfm West Kent and kmfm Maidstone out of their broadcast area to a new studio complex at kmfm Medway in Rochester.Plus, for 20 hours a day, programming on all three services will be shared to create a West Kent network. (more)
Co-location request for kmfm

The latest co-location request to Ofcom has come from kmfm Canterbury, which has been granted permission to move studios and presenters to a new complex 15 miles away in Ashford. However, the sales and news team will continue to be based in Canterbury. (more)
More non-stop Xmas radio

The KM Group have switched their DAB programmes of kmfm to non-stop festive pop for the month of December. All programmes, except specialist weekend shows will be getting listeners ready for the holiday season. (more)
CTR 105.6 Rebrands as KMFM Maidstone

CTR 105.6 FM has rebranded as KMFM Maidstone from just after midnight today. The station is owned by the Kent Messenger Group who own other KMFM stations in the Kent region.. (more)
KMFM commended for radio training

The KMFM group in Kent has been highly commended in the broadcast category at this year’s National Training Awards.
The award, created by the UK Skills and the Broadcast Training and Skills Regulator, aims to recognise excellence in training people in broadcast skills. (more)
Tony Blackburn Joins Kent's KMFM

Tony Blackburn has joined the KMFM family of radio stations in Kent to present a show on a Sunday afternoon in which he will play his favourite tunes. The former Radio 1 and Classic Gold presenter will present his first show on August 5.. (more)

In the same week that Tony Blackburn announces his departure from Classic Gold, RadioToday.co.uk can reveal he is to join kmfm for weekly syndicated show across Kent. The show will air each Sunday from 4pm till 7pm and feature "his favourite tunes". (more)
Chris Tarrant joins KMFM

Chris Tarrant is to join KMFM - for a special one-off Christmas Day programme.The three hour show, which he will co-present with his daughter Fia, will start at 9am on all seven KM stations including the recently aquired CTR FM in Maidstone. (more)
