Radio means name change for Utv

Wire FM, Swansea Sound and talkSPORT owner Utv has officially changed it's name to UTV Media plc. The change reflects the growing radio and new media interests for the company. In 2006, radio alone accounted for 54% of total sales for the first time. (more)

Swansea Sound & Radio Ceredigion Favourites in Wales

The Breakfast Show on Swansea Sound with Kevin Johns and the Drivetime Show on Radio Ceredigion with Mark Simon have been voted the Best in Wales in a poll run by Merry Media.Over the past couple of months, Merry Media has been moving from region to region across the UK to find the best breakfast and drivetime shows on the radio with votes coming from within the radio industry as well as businesses and listeners.Kevin Johns came top of the breakfast show poll with his show on Swansea Sound with 14% of the votes, second place was Jase and Mel on Red Dragon FM and in third place was Tommo on Radio Ceredigion.. Tindle Radio sells Bridge FM

Bridgend station 106.3 Bridge FM has been sold by Tindle Radio Group to Town and Country Broadcasting. The South Wales station joins Radios Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire, plus Scarlet FM which are also fully owned by Town and Country. The purchase of Bridge FM, along with the recently won new licence for Swansea will give the growing company five stations around South Wales. It is owned by former Virgin Radio and Wireless Group boss Jason Bryant. The former station director for Swansea Sound, Esther Morton, will become the new regional managing director for the group. UTV Radio Boss on Board

The Group Managing Director of ILR for UTV Radio, Chris Hurst, has been appointed to the board of UTV Radio GB Ltd. After graduating from Leeds university, Chris started his career at Signal Radio in Stoke On Trent, where he later became Sales Director then Station Director. He was promoted once again to become Regional Managing Director for The Wireless Group before UTV took over the company last year. His responsiblity for 17 Independent Local Radio Stations ranges from Talk 107 in Scotland to Swansea Sound in Wales. (more)
