Congratulations to Abbey FM's afternoon drive time presenter Mark Leigh who, along with his wife Vicky, have become parents for the first time. Felicity Jayne Leigh was born on Sunday 13th April weighing 7lb 6oz.Mark has hosted the afternoon show on the Barrow-in-Furness radio station since it launched in October 2006 and has previously worked for Tower FM in Bolton and The Bay in Lancaster. CN celebrate with Citybeat

Belfast station Citybeat 96.7 is celebrating an increase in figures today as 21,000 new listeners takes the bums-on-seats figure to 146,000. Average hours are also up 1.1 per cent. The news is not so good at other CN stations though, with The Bay and Touch FM's Midland network losing listeners and hours. (more)
Tom Hunter joins Original 106

Former Emap boss Tom Hunter has been appointed as managing director of the new Bristol station, Original 106. Tom will head the team at CanWest's second UK radio station, leaving behind Palm FM in Torbay, the station he helped launch just eight months ago. (more)
Somalia: Militiamen halt Shabelle Radio station's operations in Baidoa

The local station of Radio Shabelle in Baidoa was disrupted today after authorities from the security committee of the Bay region and other militiamen asked for the station to be shut down. Reporters in Baidoa confirmed that two members from the security committee came to the station, ordered all radio operations to be halted, and switched off the transmission.
