Radio remains favourite medium in Switzerland

Radio remains the favourite medium of the Swiss, audience figures for 2007 show. Ninety-one per cent of people aged 15 and over tuned in daily, according to annual figures published by Mediapulse, the media research group of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SBC). Major marketing for UTV stations

UTV Radio is launching a new major marketing campaign across eight of its ILR stations. The activity begins at The Pulse in West Yorkshire and continues to 96.5 Radio Wave across Blackpool and 107.4 Tower FM across Bolton and Bury before the creative is rolled out across the five remaining stations. There are no changes planned for following EPG categories Documentaries, Sports, Adult and Radio. Sky plans to implement a marketing campaign through a number of different media prior to the changes taking place in order to inform viewers of the changes. Pennine FM back from the dead

EXCLUSIVE: A radio name known to many in West Yorkshire is set to return this weekend as TLRC's Home 107.9 in Huddersfield re-brands as The New Pennine FM. Pennine was the former name of The Pulse, based a few miles away in Bradford and was last heard on the local airwaves in the early 1990's. (more)

£7.35m tabled for midlands winners in Connect Midlands Investment Challenge

Peak FM joins UTV syndication

Ofcom has granted permission to UTV Radio-owned The Pulse in Bradford and Peak FM in North Derbyshire to fully join the northern network of syndicated programmes which are already broadcast across other UTV stations. The Pulse already takes the syndicated output till 1am weekdays. (more)

For a trail period, 100 radio listeners in the Midlands have been able to make impulse purchases of songs from the DAB digital simulcast of Chrysalis Radio's 100.7 Heart FM service. The four week period was possible thanks to mobile phones incorporating DMD applications developed by TTP. The results of the Digital Music Download trial will be published at a presentation to analysts today in Birmingham by UBC Media Group. The groundbreaking technology allows real-time downloads of tracks from radio stations as the listener hears them. (more)

Ofcom explains Rotherham award

It was a battle between three companies, all of which operate a network of local radio stations in the North of England. UTV proposed Rotherham Radio, with support from neighbouring Peak FM in Chesterfield and The Pulse in Bradford. TLRC have Stray FM in Harrogate and Minster FM in York and applied for the Rotherham licence as Renaissance FM, and the application from the Lincs FM Group had the backing of Dearne FM in Barnsley and Trax FM next door in Doncaster. In the end it was the support of Lincs FM Group stations which helped Rother FM win the licence for Rotherham, as Ofcom have explained today. No more than 12 hours a week of network programming will be broadcast, and Ofcom explained that the locally based group will bring considerable experience of operating successful smaller stations in similar-sized markets adjacent to Rotherham.
