UTV appoints senior presenter

UTV Radio has appointed Chris Milow as senior presenter across 102.4 Wish FM, 107.4 Tower FM and 107.2 Wire FM.Milow will continue to be based at 102.4 Wish FM presenting the breakfast show but will now work closely with Brian Paige, the group’s senior programmer North West, to further develop the programming at all three stations. Arresting times at Tower FM

A journalist from 107.4 Tower FM was caught up in the middle of an arrest last week when the police chief he was interviewing suddenly broke off from the questions to arrest a suspected drug dealer. (more)

Major marketing for UTV stations

UTV Radio is launching a new major marketing campaign across eight of its ILR stations. The activity begins at The Pulse in West Yorkshire and continues to 96.5 Radio Wave across Blackpool and 107.4 Tower FM across Bolton and Bury before the creative is rolled out across the five remaining stations. Mark Leigh is the daddy

Congratulations to Abbey FM's afternoon drive time presenter Mark Leigh who, along with his wife Vicky, have become parents for the first time. Felicity Jayne Leigh was born on Sunday 13th April weighing 7lb 6oz.Mark has hosted the afternoon show on the Barrow-in-Furness radio station since it launched in October 2006 and has previously worked for Tower FM in Bolton and The Bay in Lancaster. Burgess quits UTV Radio

UTV Radio's senior programmer for stations in the north of England Gary Burgess has quit his position. His resignation comes just days after former newspaper sales boss Mike Baker was appointed senior station director for Wish, Wire and Tower FM. (more)

Ex-Red Rose boss joins Wish

Ex-Rock FM managing director Paul Jordan has joined former rival station Wish FM as mid-morning presenter. Paul has been freelancing at Tower FM and is a director of UTV Radio's new Preston radio station, Proud FM, due to launch in the next 12 months. (more)

Northern network for UTV Radio

RadioToday.co.uk has learnt that UTV Radio is to launch networked evening and overnight programming across 7 of its radio stations in the North of England. Wire FM, Wish FM, Radio Wave, Tower FM, Imagine FM, The Pulse and Signal Two will all carry the live shows from next month. (more)

Tower FM moves out of town

UTV Radio are set to take Tower FM out of Bolton, and co-locate the station in a brand new £1.2m state-of-the-art media building alongside Wire FM and Wish FM, in the Newton-le-Willows area. The co-location request was agreed by Ofcom on Tuesday (13th Feb) and will see the UTV station move 5 miles outside of its transmission area. (more)
