BBC Radio Stoke launches a new show aimed at the local Asian community in Staffordshire presented by Anisha Shah. The show, called ANISHA, will be on every Monday night between 7pm and 9pm from Monday 21st January.

New music boss for Signal

Dave Sherwood's re-joining UTV Radio in the newly-created role of Head of Music at Signal Radio in Stoke. Most recently Dave was presenting at weekends and on the Drivetime show at Century FM in the North East, and prior to that worked for UTV's Bradford station, The Pulse. (more)
VOA building in Bethany named ?historic place?

The Voice of America building in Bethany, Ohio, has been named to the National Register of Historic Places. The designation could qualify the building for millions in grants in an effort to convert it into a $12 million national museum, West Chester township officials say. Stokes sells half-share of Seven TV network

Regional TLRC boss joins Tindle

The Regional Managing Director for TLRC in the South John Baker, and Wessex FM Marketing and Promotions Manager Joss Baker are both joining Tindle Radio South in similar roles.
John will join the group as Regional Managing Director, which includes overseeing operations at Kestrel FM in Basingstoke, Kick FM in Newbury, Delta Radio in East Hampshire and Win FM in Winchester. Both John and Jeff join the group in October and will be tasked with launching the radio station for Andover next year – a new licence awarded to Tindle Radio in July. (more)
New family for 107.2 Win FM

Tindle Radio, the new owners of 107.2 Win FM have announced the station will forge close links with other local Tindle stations Kestrel FM in Basingstoke, Kick FM in Newbury, Delta Radio in East Hampshire and soon to be launched Andover 106.4FM.
The Local Radio Company announced the disposal of the station yesterday, after it did not respond to profit improvement plans. It is thought Win FM is the first of many stations to be sold by TLRC. (more)

Cross Rhythms Chooses FM Over Satellite

After 8 years broadcasting on Sky Digital satellite, media initiative Cross Rhythms have announced their unexpected decision to move on from this broadcasting platform in favour of their FM and internet operations. This will come into effect on Monday August 14th. Cross Rhythms broadcasts a community radio station across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme on 101.8 FM.. (more)
Efforts to get VOA Bethany declared ?place of national historical significance?

Trustee Catherine Stoker and several residents will travel to Columbus, Ohio, next month to urge that the Voice of America building in West Chester Township be declared a place of national historical significance. UTV Radio Boss on Board

The Group Managing Director of ILR for UTV Radio, Chris Hurst, has been appointed to the board of UTV Radio GB Ltd.
After graduating from Leeds university, Chris started his career at Signal Radio in Stoke On Trent, where he later became Sales Director then Station Director. He was promoted once again to become Regional Managing Director for The Wireless Group before UTV took over the company last year. His responsiblity for 17 Independent Local Radio Stations ranges from Talk 107 in Scotland to Swansea Sound in Wales. (more)
New boss at Radio Shropshire

Tim Beech has been appointed as the new Managing Editor of BBC Radio Shropshire. He joins the station from BBC Radio Stoke, where he has been Assistant Editor for the past three years.
He started out his broadcasting career in commercial radio before moving to BBC WM in 1989 as a Broadcast Journalist. From there he became Sports Editor at the station, a position he held for eight years. (more)
