Charity calendar for Peak FM

North Derbyshire's UTV station Peak FM has unveiled its annual charity calendar. The 2008 edition features amateur models, as seen in our picture, who were nominated by themselves, friends and family following a request by the station for potential ‘Miss July’s’ and ‘Mr March’s’. (more)

£7.35m tabled for midlands winners in Connect Midlands Investment Challenge

Nine Midlands companies were last week (October 10) announced as winners in the Connect Midlands £5 Million Investment Challenge. The East Midlands winners were Nottingham-based CellAura Technologies and Pacemaker UK, SAKS Electronics from Derby, SynchroPulse Ltd from Lincoln and Daventry-based Green Energy Options and the West Midlands winners were Coventry-based Opscape and PPL Party, RedWeb Security from Tamworth and Aldridge Piling Equipment from Cannock. BRMB jock moves to RAM

BRMB overnight presenter and breakfast producer J is moving within the GCap Media group to join RAM FM. He will take over the mid morning show from Monday in Derby, after a five year stint at the Birmingham station. (more)
BBC Radio Derby gets Wise

Wise Buddah has made the move into producing jingles for the beeb's local radio networking by completing a brand new custom package for BBC Radio Derby. The new pack includes eleven separate elements all with alternative lite mix outs. (more)
Ram FM does Derby deal

Gcap Media's 102.8 Ram FM has arranged a deal with Derby County FC to broadcast full match commentary on all games for the 2007/2008 season. The station has also signed with the Derbyshire Building Society to sponsor the match day coverage. (more)
Derbyshire DAB Multiplex Awarded to NOW Digital

Ofcom have awarded thew DAB Multiplex licence for Derbyshire to NOW Digital (East Midlands), a consortium made up of GCap Media, Sabras Radio and the Chrysalis Group.. (more)

Ofcom has awarded the new local DAB digital radio multiplex for Derbyshire to the only applicant, NOW Digital. The consortium is owned by GCap Media plc (72.5%), Sabras Sound Ltd (20%) and Chrysalis Group plc 7.5%. (more)

Peak FM joins UTV syndication

Ofcom has granted permission to UTV Radio-owned The Pulse in Bradford and Peak FM in North Derbyshire to fully join the northern network of syndicated programmes which are already broadcast across other UTV stations. The Pulse already takes the syndicated output till 1am weekdays. (more)
Changes at Station of the Year

Recent Sony Award winning station BBC Radio Derby is revamping its weekday schedule, with Shane O'Connor taking over the breakfast show from Monday week. Shane switches from his current mid-morning slot after 5 years at the station. He's no stranger to breakfast radio in the Midlands though, having previously worked with Paul Franks to help BBC WM to its best ever breakfast Rajars. (more)

Just one goes for Derbyshire DAB

Only one application's been received by Ofcom for a licence to run the digital radio multiplex for Derbyshire. The Now Digital bid proposes to use a network of 5 transmitters and bring 9 stations onto DAB in the county by next summer. (more)

BBC Radio Derby Searches for County Flag

BBC Radio Derby's Breakfast show presenter, Andy Whittaker, has been on a quest to acquire a flag for the county of Derbyshire. Now the search is entering the final stages, and the shortlist of three final designs is unveiled for the first time on Friday morning (4th August). The search for a flag of Derbyshire began when Andy received an email from a listener visited Cornwall and remarked that the area had its own banner flying across the region and how the locals were obviously very proud of it.. BBC RAJAR Headlines

BBC Radio Five Live and sister station Five Live Sports Extra added nearly half a million listeners in the last quarter, according to figures released today by Rajar, The figures show a quarterly increase of 492,000 listeners across both stations.
There are notable gains for Five Live Breakfast (from 2.12m to 2.32m) and Victoria Derbyshire (from 1.57m to 1.88m), while Sports Extra benefited from increased Premiership coverage, Six Nations rugby and Test cricket. (more)

Carbon footprint - last year's big word, so clear it should get a prize - is now in absolutely universal circulation, on every corporate social responsibility department agenda, a sub-text in every other Radio 4 programme, part of a very big conversation.
