Former WOR radio towers to come down this morning

Three giant radio towers alongside the New Jersey Turnpike are due to come down this morning. Police in Lyndhurst have approved the demolition, after halting an earlier planned demolition in September. Channel 103 to cease broadcasting

Tindle-owned Jersey station Channel 103 is to closedown on Sunday 3rd September this year - making way for The All New Channel 103 which launches the next day. The brand new radio station will be the only one in Jersey to be live and local from 5am, with a brand new Early Breakfast Club presented by Katy Ringsdore. She will then join Peter Mac for a shorter, sharper All New Channel 103 Breakfast from 7am to 9am. (more)

New UK DAB allocations

The 2006 Regional Radio Conference, which strongly affects future Band III licensing, has allocated various new channels to UK areas for possible DAB usage. The list details that block 11A maybe be used for the third national DAB multiplex, and that blocks as low in the band as 5A and 5C will be used for Suffolk and Jersey respectively - two of the many areas traditionally awkward to provide good coverage due to their close proximity to other European nations such as France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Radio pirates relaying Howard Stern's satellite show on FM

Perhaps we should have expected this. At the end of the first week of Howard Stern's new show on Sirius Satellite Radio, pirate broadcasters are popping up on the FM band, relaying the Stern show. Today's New York Daily News reports broadcasts on 95.1 FM in New York and 101.5 FM in New Jersey.
