MuxCo wins Gloucestershire

Ofcom has awarded the new local digital radio multiplex licence for Gloucestershire to MuxCo. The only other applicant came from GCap Media's NOW Digital consortium. MuxCo Gloucestershire, owned by UKRD, Murfin Media, Town and Country and MuxCo Ltd will provide 10 commercial services, and the local BBC station. (more)

Many of the local radio stations operated by the BBC around the UK have reported an increase in listeners with the latest RAJAR results.Amongst the stations with an increase in audience are Radio Oxford, Cornwall, Derby, Lancashire, and Gloucestershire. (more)
Frank Gillard Award Nominations 2006

The nominations for this years Frank Gillard Awards have been announced today. A record number of 25 stations have achieved nominations in the awards which celebrate BBC Local Radio. BBC London 94.9 leads the field by being nominated in five categories and BBC Radio Berkshire with three will be hoping that lightning can strike twice - last year the station converted all three of its nominations to gold. In the Breakfast category BBC London 94.9's Jono and Jo Breakfast Show pits its metropolitan strength against the breakfasy offerings of Mark Cummings and BBC Radio Gloucestershire and Rod Whiting of BBC Radio Lincolnshire.. Northcliffes Gloucestershire Echo and Gloucester Citizen are to cut up to 20 editorial posts.
The job cuts come as the subs, sports, features, photographic and most of the reporters will be based in Cheltenham, home of the Echo, with only a small office left in Gloucester, home of the Citizen. (more)
