Adil Ray's daily show on the BBC Asian Network has been named as the 'Best Radio Show' at the UK AMA's.
Adil Ray's 'Drivetime' show was up against Ameet Chana's 'Breakdown' also on the BBC Asian Network, Neev's programme on Kiss FM, Punjabi Hit Squad's BBC 1xtra show and Suzi Mann's weekly 'Bollywood Top 20' on Sunrise Radio.
The UK AMAs were held at the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, London.

New chart show for BBC 1Xtra

The Official Charts Company has been commissioned to compile a new bespoke chart for 1Xtra. The 1Xtra Chart Show with Ronnie Herel will count down the top 40 biggest selling black music tracks from independent and specialist retailers and digital sales. (more)
Big Changes at BBC 1Xtra

Trevor Nelson and Tim Westwood from Radio 1 are joining 1Xtra to host new shows on the station. The refreshed schedule on the BBC digital station will also see hip hop specialist MistaJam taking over a new five-day slot.. (more)

Trevor Nelson and Tim Westwood are to host new programmes on BBC 1Xtra, whilst continuing their Radio 1 shows. Nelson will takeover breakfast from October 8th with new signing Zena, a former member of girl group Mis-Teeq, whilst Westwood gets a Sunday night hip hop show. (more)

BBC 1Xtra, the station which likes to identify presenters with first names only, has announced that Max will replace Nesha as host of the lunch time show. Max is thrilled she has been given the opportunity, and feels there is a great sense of fun and excitement at the digital-only station. (more)

Safer sex from BBC Radio 1

BBC Radio 1 has announced a unique partnership with BBC 1Xtra, MTV and Durex to launch BareAll06 - a safer sex campaign in the form of an online survey aimed at finding out what the nation's youth really think about sexual health.
BareAll06 marks the first time the three youth brands have teamed up to examine and highlight an important youth issue. Each presenter will host a special edition of Radio 1's Sunday Surgery phone-in show alongside Dr Mark Hamilton. (more)
