BRFM Bridge Radio Confirms Their New Frequency

Community radio station BRFM Bridge Radio have confirmed that their frequency for covering Kent will be 95.6 FM. BRFM Bridge Radio was one of the lucky stations to be awarded a 5 year community radio licence by Ofcom in May and will broadcast to the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. The station aims to launch on air in Winter Autumn 2006/2007. The Station Director Danny Lawrence praised the hard working team at BRFM "I would like to say thank you to all the team at Br fm - and to everybody who has helped to spread our name. Community Radio is the answer for us as the people of the island and beyond love radio and the benefits of community radio is so high in our area.". (more)
BRFM offer community networking

Danny Lawrence, director of new community radio station BRFM is hoping to set up a regional community radio network group.
If you are a group applying for, or recently won a community radio licence, Danny would like to arrange meetings every quarter to share experiences and help with development. It will also mean closer working relationships and for some possible joint funding applications and training. (more)
Eight community licences explained

On Thursday 11th May, Ofcom's Radio Licensing Committee awarded eight community radio licences. These awards are the last in Ofcom's first round of community radio licensing, which began with the receipt of 194 applications in November 2004. From these, Ofcom has now awarded a total of 107 community radio licences.
The eight new stations will be: 7 Waves Radio on the Wirral in Merseyside, Talkin' Toxteth TTFM in Liverpool, Halton FM in Runcorn, Cheshire FM for Mid Cheshire, Diversity FM in Lancaster, Chelmsford Calling in Essex, Saint FM in Burnham-On-Crouch and BRFM which will serve the community on the Isle of Sheppey. BRFM Bridge Radio was one of the lucky radio stations to be awarded by Ofcom a 5 year Community Radio Licence on Wednesday. The station will broadcast to the Isle of Sheppey in Kent with the dream of BRFM beginning in 2004 with the Director Danny Lawrence who always had an ambition to run a radio station.. (more)
Bridge Radio for Isle of Sheppey

The Isle of Sheppey, just off the North Kent Coast was one of the eight new areas to gain a new radio station this week as Ofcom awarded the final batch of Community Radio licences for round one.
BRFM - or Bridge Radio FM is run by Danny Lawrence and aims to provide a community service to the 37,000 population on the Isle of Sheppey. It was Danny's child hood ambition to run his own radio station and this week that ambition has come true. He told RadioToday.co.uk: "Now the licence has been awarded we can move forward and produce good community radio for the area." (more)
