Congratulations to Abbey FM's afternoon drive time presenter Mark Leigh who, along with his wife Vicky, have become parents for the first time. Felicity Jayne Leigh was born on Sunday 13th April weighing 7lb 6oz.Mark has hosted the afternoon show on the Barrow-in-Furness radio station since it launched in October 2006 and has previously worked for Tower FM in Bolton and The Bay in Lancaster. Abbey FM hires hairy biker

The local radio station for Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria has secured the talent of BBC television presenter Dave Myers. Known as one of the Hairy Bikers, Barrow-born Dave will co-host the Sunday afternoon show on 107.3 Abbey FM with local presenter John Little. (more)
Abbey FM Manager leaves

The Station Manager of the new local radio station for Barrow-in-Furness has left his position, just a few months after the station launched. Andrew Turner was hired by owners TLRC, CN Group and The Radio Business to launch the station, but has now stepped down to take up other interests. (more)
Abbey FM becomes a movie star

One of the UK's newest radio stations is to star on the big-screen as the setting for a new film.Studios at Abbey FM in Barrow-in-Furness, which only launched last month, have been used for a short movie about a late-night radio DJ. (more)

Abbey FM appoint Manager

Abbey FM, the new radio station for Barrow-in-Furness have appointed its Station Manager who will turn the winning licence application into a fully operational radio station.
Andrew Turner, a formerly with TLRC-owned 99.8FM 2BR in East Lancashire has left his position at the Nelson-based station to start a new role in South Cumbria. His first task is to secure premises for the station to broadcast from, followed by recruiting staff to help launch and run Abbey FM. (more)
