Community radio station Cheshire FM has won Cheshire County Council's 'Start Up Business of the Year' category at the Vale Royal Business Awards. The Mid Cheshire station has been broadcasting since March 2007.

Mid-Cheshire's community radio station, Cheshire FM, has signed up thirty new businesses for advertising... in one go! The Winsford-based station has agreed a deal with Weaver Square shopping centre in nearby Northwich to provide airtime to each of the stores located in the centre. (more)

Cheshire FM have signed a deal to provide all 30 retailers in Northwich's Weaver Square shopping centre with an on-air advertising campaign. All commercials will be unique but will keep the common Weaver Square branding.. (more)
Cheshire FM launches on 92.5

Mid-Cheshire's community radio station, Cheshire FM, took to the airwaves at 8 this morning with The Full Cheshire Breakfast. The station, set up by Wire FM founders David Duffy and Phil Houltby, was one of the last to be licensed by Ofcom in the first round of community radio awards. (more)

Eight community licences explained

On Thursday 11th May, Ofcom's Radio Licensing Committee awarded eight community radio licences. These awards are the last in Ofcom's first round of community radio licensing, which began with the receipt of 194 applications in November 2004. From these, Ofcom has now awarded a total of 107 community radio licences.
The eight new stations will be: 7 Waves Radio on the Wirral in Merseyside, Talkin' Toxteth TTFM in Liverpool, Halton FM in Runcorn, Cheshire FM for Mid Cheshire, Diversity FM in Lancaster, Chelmsford Calling in Essex, Saint FM in Burnham-On-Crouch and BRFM which will serve the community on the Isle of Sheppey. New station for Mid-Cheshire

The team at Cheshire FM are celebrating the awarding of a five year Community Radio licence by Ofcom. The station applied for a licence near two years ago and have just recently completed a temporary broadcast using an RSL licence.
Founder and Chairman David Duffy said “This is fantastic news. This is what we have been working towards for the past two years – a truly local community radio service for Mid Cheshire. Cheshire FM Delighted with Licence Award

Cheshire FM has been awarded a full time community radio licence to broadcast to Northwich, Winsford and Middlewich. The OFCOM licence is for 5 years and allows the station to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Founder and Chairman David Duffy said: "This is fantastic news.
