The Hospital Club 100 revealed
From The Independent. Posted July 7 2008, 12.00am
The inaugural The Hospital Club 100 was launched in June this year in
association with The Independent Media Weekly. It's a search for the
authentic stars of Britain's creative industries. Unlike other power lists,
the nominations weren't compiled using a coterie of establishment types, but
through a democratic process. Essentially anyone working in the creative
industries has been able to go to The Hospital Club's website and vote. Some
results proved surprising, it seems that even those at the cutting edge
regard fame and celebrity as influential currency. We had an overwhelming
response to the shortlist – people voted in their tens of thousands. Due to
the democratic process, the results were likely to be controversial. These
people are not necessarily power brokers, they are creative leaders who are
seen as inspirational figures. So, for the first time, you see establishment
figures alongside young and emerging talent. Will Turner, group CEO, The
Hospital Club
