Two solar cycles in progress concurrently
From Media Network Weblog. Posted March 29 2008, 11.02am
Barely three months after forecasters announced the beginning of new Solar Cycle 24, old Solar Cycle 23 has returned. Actually, it never left. “This week, three big sunspots appeared and they are all old cycle spots,” says NASA solar physicist David Hathaway. “We know this because of their magnetic polarity.” Earlier yesterday, the Solar and Heliospheric [...] (more)

Scientist seeks link between solar flares and strokes
From Media Network Weblog. Posted April 24 2006, 6.51pm
Could the same solar energy surges that disrupt radio transmissions and cause power blackouts also trigger strokes in human beings? Neurologists who traced about 6,800 strokes and related cerebral attacks in one region of Slovakia have added that question to ongoing studies of whether solar cycles, solar wind and geomagnetic storms on Earth may be somehow connected to human health. New voice for online stations
From Radio Today. Posted April 12 2006, 10.45pm
A new association has been created by internet radio stations to represent the industry. NASA spacecraft helps researchers see the sun's far side
From Media Network Weblog. Posted March 9 2006, 1.52pm
NASA researchers using the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) spacecraft have developed a method of seeing through the sun to the star's far side. The sun's far side faces away from the Earth, so it is not directly observable by traditional techniques. "This new method allows more reliable advance warning of magnetic storms brewing on the far side that could rotate with the sun and threaten (more)
