ZEE Cinema to telecast ICL: Championships

After the successful debut of ZEE Network's Indian Cricket League in November, the tournament returns with a new look this weekend on ZEE Cinema.
This time around, ZEE Network has confirmed Edelweiss as the show's title sponsors. The ICL: Grand Championships kicks off this Sunday (9th March) and concludes on Monday 7th April. ICL CEO Himanshu Mody notes that the ICL is talking with companies to sponsor each of the eight teams.
ICL chairman of the executive board Kapil Dev says, "Edelweiss’ association with the ICL is a support to young domestic Indian players who have been provided with an international standard platform to display their cricketing talent. This support will be a sure step in strengthening cricket in the country."
The event will be held in three locations – Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Gurgaon.
Brian Lara will captain the Mumbai Champs team. The captains for the other teams are Stuart Law (Chennai Superstars), Inzamam Ul Haq (Lahore Badshahs), Chris Cairns (Chandigarh Lions), Damien Martyn (Ahmedabad Rockets), Chris Harris (Hyderabad Heroes), Marvan Attapatu (Delhi Giants) and Craig McMillan (Kolkata Tigers).
In the UK, ZEE Cinema will broadcast the ICL: Grand Championships live and exclusive from Sunday 9th March with two matches per day, one at 08:00 - 11:00 and the second match between 13:30 and 16:30. From Sunday 30th March, due to British Summer Time kicking in, matches will begin at 09:00 and 14:30 respectively.

Alan Freeman CBE, one of the UK’s best-loved broadcasters, has died peacefully at his London home after a brief illness.
Alan was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1927 and came to Britain in 1957. He enjoyed almost 50 years as one of the UK’s greatest champions of music-makers across the widest possible range of musical genres.

Reports today suggest that Kelvin MacKenzie, former Chairman of The Wireless Group, could be in poll position to buy nine stations from GCap Media.
The deal could see MacKenzie making a come back into radio and in charge of ex-Marcher Group stations in the Northwest and North Wales: MFM, Buzz 97.1, Coast FM and Champion FM and Southwest stations Gemini FM, Plymouth Sound, Orchard FM, Lantern FM and South Hams Radio. (more)
