ZEE Radio signs up film critic Taran Adarsh

Leading film critic and journalist Taran Adarsh has exclusively been signed by London’s only Bollywood centric radio station ZEE Radio. The deal means, Adarsh will give listeners exclusive box office news, filmi gossip and trade information straight from the tinsel town to listeners here in the capital. The slot titled 'Box Office Bulletin', starting later this month, will air daily in 2-3 minute capsules on ZEE Radio..Dil Se Bollywood. As well as movie and music reviews, Taran will also look at the box office status from a year ago in a special called “This Time Last Year”. Listeners can also catch Taran’s star interviews featured on his ZEE TV show ‘B Biz’ played back on ZEE Radio’s ‘Bollywood Beatz’ (weekday mornings 09:00) and on ‘Star Struck’ (weekends 13:00). " Station Manager of ZEE Radio, Raj Baddhan said, "Getting such a prominent personality from Mumbai like Taran Adarsh on ZEE Radio reinforces our policy of bringing the best of Bollywood direct from the film capital to our listeners here." Polish President vetoes media reform bill

I used to listen to Chris Evans when he was doing a Saturday show on GLR in the late Eighties and early Nineties. I didn't know who he was, but it was a wild, anarchic and fantastic radio show back in the day when GLR had presenters like Chris Morris and Danny Baker. They were doing the sort of radio you didn't hear on Radio 1 or 2 or any local stations. I got the idea then it would be an amazing thing to do for a job. (more)

A new association has been created by internet radio stations to represent the industry. The Association of Streaming Media Companies (ASMeC) will lobby for fairer licencing of music, as well as develop commercial opportunities and network resources. Tom Lousada of Glasgow's Magnetic Radio is the association's co-ordinator. Tom told Radiojam that in order for internet radio to develop and move into profitability, representation was critical: "The streaming media industry offers the consumer a varied choice of entertainment that is not viable under the traditional media model, it is therefore vital that the correct practices are developed and maintained to ensure quality for the consumer and the ability for the industry to grow in size and commercial value." Kyrgyz National Radio, the main domestic radio programme of the State National Broadcasting Corporation, is available on a live audio stream accessible from the broadcaster's website at www.ktr.kg. The site also has links to live streams of the second programme, Radio 21st Century, and Kyrgyz state television, although these were not working when checked by BBC Monitoring on 1 January 2006.
