Two Scottish radio stations were last night celebrating victory at an awards ceremony held in the USA.
Clyde 1 Superscoreboard football show and Forth 2’s Darran Adam each scooped gold at the New York Festivals Radio Broadcasting Awards.

Bauer's Scottish heritage suffers

Bauer's Big City network added nearly a million listeners in the past quarter, with Hallam FM recording an increase of over half a million listening hours and an increase in market share of over 2 per cent. North of the border however, there were record lows in reach for both Clyde 1 in Glasgow and Forth 1 in Edinburgh. (more)
Clyde and Forth to Launch Cash Promotion

Glasgow and Edinburgh-based radio stations, Clyde 1 and Forth One, have launched a promotion to have listeners stay tuned in for longer: by promising there’s a chance to win a £1000 in a forthcoming programme.

Clyde 1 Scoops Scotland’s First Music Week Award

Radio station, 102.5 Clyde 1, has gone where no Scottish station has gone before and won the Regional Radio Station of the Year title at awards run by influential magazine, Music Week.
To win, it had to beat off the challenge of 99.9 Radio Norwich, Heart 106.2, XFM London and XFM Manchester.... (more)

Bauer Radio's 102.5 Clyde 1 has won the best regional radio station of the year of the Music Week Awards. BBC Radio 2 also picked up the national station of the year award. (more)

The big 'consolidation' of the radio industry had its pause button pressed after the big mergers of 2005. Emap and SRH stations were coming together, GCap Media sold a couple of stations and lost a few managers, UTV and SMG started talking seriously, and GMG wrote a couple of big cheques for quite a few regional radio stations.It was the year of the podcast. Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus has been dropped from her weekly radio show on Emap station Clyde 1. She has been presenting the Saturday Night show in Glasgow for nine months but bosses have told her to take a break. (more)

Radio Clyde celebrated Independence Day in style live from the Glasgow ‘Scotland with Style’ Clipper at the New York Yacht Club this week.
As one of the sponsors of the Glasgow Clipper, which is taking part in the ‘Clipper Round the World Yacht Race’, 102.5 Clyde 1 broadcast live from one of the world’s most prestigious marinas and brought a taste of the Big Apple to Scotland’s airwaves on the 3rd and 4th July. (more)
Tiger Tim Stevens Made an MBE

Long term Radio Clyde presenter Tiger Tim Stevens has been made an MBE in the Queens Birthday Honours List 2006. The host, who has been with the station since its launch in 1974 was given the award for his services to broadcasting and charity. The Tiger currently presents Mondays to Thursday evenings on Clyde 1 and was diagnosed with having Multiple Sclerosis in the nineties.. (more)
Lord Jimmy Returns to Radio Clyde

Lord Jimmy Gordon of Strathblane is returning to Radio Clyde as Chairman only a year after leaving the post when Emap bought over Scottish Radio Holdings. Lord Jimmy helped set up Radio Clyde in the seventies and is proud and thrilled about returning to the station. Recent RAJAR reports show that Clyde 1 and Clyde 2 are in fierce competition with competitiors like Real Radio, XFM, Saga and Q96. Emap are hoping that Lord Jimmy will get Clyde back on track again.. Good news for Q96 and Clyde 1 while bad news for Kingdom FM and Northsound 1. Q96, the local radio station covering Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Glasgow, is officially Scotland's fastest growing radio station - according to the latest RAJAR audience figures released today.. (more)
Michelle McManus joins Clyde 1

Michelle McManus, has joined Clyde 1, her favourite radio station, the station that she grew up listening to and the station that supported her as she went on to win Pop Idol in 2003.
Michelle will host her own show on Saturday nights from 6.30 till 9 as part of Clyde 1’s new weekend line-up. She’ll be playing lots of feel good, party songs to get you in the mood for Saturday night and of course having lots of fun with callers and many of her celebrity friends. (more)

Three out of the five nominated shortlist for Best Radio Station in the Music Week Awards 2006 - are Emap Stations. Clyde 1, Kerrang! 105.2 and Radio City 96.7 along with The Beach and BBC Radio 2 are in the shortlist.
The winner will be announced at the event on March 2nd 2006. The Music Week Awards celebrate the achievements of companies and individuals working in the UK music industry over the past year. From A&R all the way through to retail, the Awards celebrate success and innovation throughout the business - and are also the industry's biggest party of the year. (more)
Radio Clyde adds 25000 listeners

The latest quarterly audience figures show that Radio Clyde has added 25,000 new listeners with a total of 721,000 adults now tuning in every week.
Clyde 1 is the biggest station in the west reaching an audience of 588,000 each week and that’s 165,000 more than its nearest rival.
Clyde 2’s reach has increased from 16% to 17% and its market share is up from 7.7% to 8.3%. The station has added 31,000 new listeners and now has a total audience of 316,000. (more)
