The ‘change your radio station name’ meme is well and truly dead, isn’t it? Funny and clever for the first few attempts, but honestly… or is it just me being old and grumpy?

Nope.

They’re slightly better when they play on the existing station name. But not much.

No you’re not! Though I’m not in radio anymore, of course. Martin Lee and myself wanted to rename Pennine FM as Smut FM, with the strap line “the station with the biggest hits in town”, said very quickly.

I wouldn’t say it happens frequently enough to qualify as a meme; done in the right way I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Good luck to them.

Unless they call the kid Albert. I’d be interested to hear “you’re listening to Prince Albert”. All kinds of images I’d rather not have.
