Nigel Slater's memoir to be adapted for BBC1 by Billy Elliot writer

Toast will be brought to the small screen by Ruby Films, the producers of Brick Lane and The Other Boleyn GirlNigel Slater's childhood memoir is being turned into a BBC1 drama that will portray him as "the Billy Elliot of the kitchen".The 90-minute adaptation of Toast is being made by London-based Ruby Films, which also produced Small Island, The Other Boleyn Girl and Brick Lane. The screenplay is by Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall.Ruby co-founder Paul Trijbits told Broadcast magazine: "It's about ambition in the face of huge hindrances.
