Introduction

96 Trent FM is GCap Media's independent local radio station covering the city of Nottingham, Mansfield and other parts of Nottinghamshire.

It broadcasts on 96.2MHz from Mapperley Ridge to the City and much of Nottinghamshire and 96.5MHz from Fishponds Hill to Mansfield and the surrounding area.

The station also broadcasts on DAB Digital Radio via NOW Nottingham. The multiplex is broadcast from Waltham and Mapperley Ridge, with plans for a further transmitter at Fishponds Hill to cover Mansfield and North Nottinghamshire.

History

Launched July 3, 1975 as Radio Trent, initially broadcasting on FM and medium wave. Renamed Trent FM in 1988, when it launched a separate oldies-format service on its medium wave frequency. Taken over by the GWR Group in 1993. As of spring 2005, it was owned by GCap Media, after GWR Group's merger with Capital Radio Group.

Former presenters include David Jensen and Dale Winton.

The weekday breakfast show is presented by Joanna Russell and Andy Twigge - 'Jo & Twiggy' (6-9am).
